Leach, Jr., Frank D.



Frank D. Leach, Jr., age 85, of Spring Green, passed away on June 13, 2023, surrounded by his loving wife and family at Avow hospice facility in Florida. 

Frank was born in Jacksonville, Florida on May 19, 1938. Son of Frank D. Leach Sr. and Elise Leach (Stoppelbein). 

Frank attended the University of Florida and during his sophomore year, he hitchhiked to Spring Green, Wisconsin and after an interview with Frank Lloyd Wright he was accepted as an apprentice. After two years there, he returned to the University of Florida and completed his Architectural degree.

Returning to Wisconsin, he married Caren Caraway and they started a family.

Frank practiced architecture for 10 years, and then started a business Greenbriar Papers, which evolved to Greenbriar Products. During this time, he designed and produced many different products and was even awarded 2 patents from the USPTO. Among the many things he designed and produced were barn fans, wood stoves, candle sticks, and chess sets. Later on, he started and sold Orbitron satellite dishes which evolved to building the small dishes for Hughes, Dish Network, and others. 

Frank married the love of his life, Billie Bolen in 1994. They travelled extensively, sailed the world, and had many hobbies. They enjoyed dining with friends, dancing, karaoke, painting, wood working, sailing, tennis, biking, and training their dear dog Maya - who brought much laughter and good times to their lives.

He was preceded in death his parents, Frank D. Leach Sr, and Elise Leach (Stopplebein).

He is survived by his wife Billie Leach; his daughters Larc (Tim) Gollon and Tatiana Katara; his sister Julia Cipriano; his step-daughters Eva (Jay) Haskins and Ava Foulke. He is also survived by his grandchildren Daniel (Katy), Savanna and Sam Gollon, Zak and Willow Katara, Tarquin Dalstrom, Aleka Kramer, Sophia (Chris) Smothers, Simone, Sasha, Cecilia and Dallas Formisano.

A private interment was held as per Frank’s wishes.
