Doan, Audrey Ann

Audrey Ann Doan, age 89, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning April 11, 2024, at her residence. She was born on September 9, 1934, in Dodgeville the daughter of Clarence and Clara (Moen) Trankle. Audrey was united in marriage to Glenn Doan on September 26, 1954, at the Fennimore United Methodist Church.

As a young girl, Audrey grew up outside of Montfort on a farm until her parents relocated to Fennimore. She graduated from Fennimore High School and then attended Madison Business College. Audrey worked as a secretary at Parker Pen in Fennimore and later stayed at home to raise her family along with helping with the bookwork at the gas station. Always looking for a challenge, she decided to open Little Audrey’s Standard gas station in Fennimore, which she operated for several years. She went back to work as a secretary for CESA in Fennimore for 15 years until becoming the owner of the Fashion of Fennimore clothing store for many years. Audrey later found enjoyment working for Tom Schirz investments until her retirement. One thing Audrey never retired from was being a “true farm girl at heart”. She and Glenn purchased a farm outside of Fennimore in 1969, and she continued doing chores until the recent years.

Audrey was an active member in numerous organizations throughout, such as the Wisconsin Federations Women’s Club, where she held numerous office positions, the Sons of Norway, the Order of Eastern Star for over 70 years, and most proud of being a member of the Fennimore United Methodist Church for over 75 years and holding numerous church positions. Audrey was devoted to her Lord and Savior and loved to see the young children in church and at the numerous church activities.  She was also an active member with the Red Hat Society and loved helping at The Lemon Door. She always looked forward to her bus trips with dear friends along with being able to develop new friendships. Audrey’s dedication to her family was “second to none” and her friendships were true and her willingness to be there for others was unmatched. Audrey was always proud to call Fennimore her home and the people of the community her family.

Audrey is survived by her three children: William (Phyllis) Doan of Fennimore, David (Michele) Doan of Belmont, Diane (Paul) VandenLangenberg of Winneconne, 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, and sister-in-law Dagna Doan of Fennimore, along with many special nieces and nephews.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Clara Trankle, and her husband Glenn on March 3, 2011, and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday April 17, 2024, at the Fennimore United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery in Fennimore. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday April 16, 2024, at the Fennimore United Methodist Church in Fennimore and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday morning at the church.
