Dodgers survive RC challenge

Dodgeville’s volleyball team had its work cut  out for them at Richland Center Thursday.

The host Hornets played no doubt their best volleyball of the season and pushed the Dodgers to five sets before the visitors claimed a 3-2 win.

The Hornets served notice they were not going to be an easy mark with a 25-22 win in the first set.  The Dodgers had a 21-20 lead in the opening round but the Hornets came up with a kill and an ace to lead 22-21.

The Dodgers tied it at 22  all before the Hornets scored the last three points, finishing it with an ace and a return error.

Dodgeville eased to a 25-18 win in the second set and the rest of the night was back and forth until the Dodgers went on a late run to claim the last set and the match.

Scores were 22-25, 25-18, 25-21, 20-25 and 15-9.
