Butteris, Harold
Harold Butteris, age 84, of Pewaukee, passed away on September 18, 2023. Harold was born on May 25, 1939, to Melva (Tremelling) Butteris and Stansmore Butteris in Edmund. He was a witness to his father burning to death in 1942. He attended school at Edmund Elementary School and attended high school at Dodgeville High School, graduating in the class of 1957. He joined the Air Force in 1958, serving 4 years. He drove a gravel truck for many years and worked at Omeda in Madison until retiring after 24 years. Harold met and married Carolyn Kite in 1960 in Highland, and together they moved to Spokane, WA. After returning to the Dodgeville area in 1962, they had 5 children together and continued to live in the area until 1983 when they divorced. Carolyn and Harold reunited in September 2022, and Carolyn became his caregiver after he left LindenGrove Assisted Living, Mukwonago where his daughter Robin was his caregiver.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Will Schill; his sisters, Judie Schill Weier, Shirley Butteris Ziebarth; his brothers-in-law, LeRoy Ziebarth, and Milferd Ziebarth; as well as many, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Harold is survived by his children, William Butteris, EuGene Butteris, Jamey (Jenny) Butteris, Robin (Alan) Welch, and Cindy (Brian) Reichert; 9 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Eileen Ziebarth and Gloria Marie; his special friend, Carolyn Kite; his dog, Bailey; and many other friends.
Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 25, 2023 at the Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home, Dodgeville. Burial followed at Bethlehem Cemetery in Edmund. Friends called at the funeral home on Sunday, September 24, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and again on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
