Mary Ellen Burke, age 92, of Mineral Point passed away peacefully on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Mineral Point Health Services surrounded by her loving family.  

She was born on April 30, 1931 the daughter of William and Margaret (Laufenberg) Cody.  She graduated from Mineral Point High School.  She was united in marriage to George Burke on November 16, 1950 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Mineral Point, and he preceded her in death on February 16, 1995.  George and Mary farmed in the Waldwick area their entire life.  She was the head cook for the Mineral Point Schools for many years.  Mary loved playing cards, trips to the casino and spending time with family and friends.  She was a member of Ss. Mary & Paul Catholic Church.  

She is survived by her children:  Carolyn (Mike) Stahl of Wimauma, FL, Bill (Chris) Burke of Mineral Point, Margaret "Maggie" (Paul) Landon of Lancaster, Marsha (Paul) Kjelland of Mineral Point, Jim (Deena) Burke of Mineral Point, Marilyn Burke of Waunakee and Tom (Jean) Burke of Mineral Point; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband George, son-in-law Dan Repka (Marilyn's husband), siblings and spouses; Emily and Paul Knight, William Jr. and Letha Cody, David and Helen Cody, LaVerne and Josephine and Eileen Cody, Ed and Carol Cody, Adrian and Patricia Cody, John and Marilyn Cody, Charles and Theresa Burke, Teresa and Frank Hamilton; and also many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Ss. Mary & Paul Catholic Church in Mineral Point.  Burial was in St. Paul's Cemetery.  A visitation was held on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until 12:50 p.m. at the church.  In lieu of flowers memorial to Agrace Hospice would be appreciated.
