Dean Francis Wienkes, 67 of Highland, Wisconsin passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 9, 2023. He was the fifth child born to Ray and Margaret (Hasburgh) Wienkes on October 3, 1956. Dean was a member of the Highland High School Class of 1974. He was a life long member of Ss. Anthony and Philip parish. After graduation, he first farmed with his father and brothers on the family farm and continued to be a dedicated farmhand his entire life.
Dean was a quiet man who always greeted you with a smile. He was a devoted sports fan who knew all the stats. Dean loved playing cards and was an avid reader. He enjoyed his Sunday shopping trips to Platteville, looking for a good deal and where he would run into family, friends and neighbors. He was Menards Rebate Expert.
Dean is survived by his brothers and sisters: Mark (Janet) Wienkes, Marlene (Gary) Klein, Peg (Dave) McCarthy, Pat (Donna Levins) Wienkes, Duane Wienkes, Dale (Becky) Wienkes; 13 nieces, 7 nephews, and 25 grandnieces and nephews and 1 great- grandniece. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Christine and Joseph Hasburgh, his paternal grandparents Sophia and Mike Wienkes, his parents, and nephews Peter Klein and Dan Lange.
A visitation will be held at Ss. Anthony & Philip Catholic Church, Highland, on Saturday, October 14, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A memorial mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. The McGuire-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home is serving the family.
