Byron Otto Russell, 95, of Spring Green, peacefully went to be with Jesus on November 17, 2023. He was born on October 13, 1928 to Joe Russell and Julia (Peaslee) Russell of Woodman, WI. Byron married Jeanne Brown in May of 1949 and together they had 3 daughters. Byron was a man of many skills and after returning from mission work in Brazil, spent time in the army and as a farmer, pastor, and maintenance technician. He was always ready with a story or witticism. After Jeanne passed away in 1991 from cancer, Byron married Lorraine Baker in May of 1995 and gained a second family that brought him much joy.
Byron is survived by his daughters Ellen (Dick) Stroud, Kathy (Mike) Kieler, and Heidi (Gus) Sawyer; stepchildren Diane (Buck Volden) Baker, Pam (Rick) Soltau, Roger (Vicky) Baker, and Karen (Randy) Crume; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives Jeanne and Lorraine; siblings Carroll (age 6), Bernard (Alice) Russell, Genevieve (Floyd) Mayne, Vera (Russell) Wachter, Helen (Gay) Tucker, Irene (Earl) Fritz, and Paul (Harriet) Russell; infant son, Carroll; and stepson, Bob Baker.
A memorial service honoring Byron will be held at the Spring Green Community Church, Spring Green, WI on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. A light luncheon will follow.
