Dean J. Reed

Dean J. Reed, age 94, of Dodgeville, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Upland Hills Nursing & Rehab Center.

He was born on May 12, 1929, a son of John and Emma (Lee) Reed. He was born and raised in the Otter Creek (Highland) area and graduated from Cobb High School before moving to Dodgeville.

On August 18, 1951, he married Mary Tremelling in Daleyville.

Dean spent majority of life after the farm selling feed, farm related equipment and recreational vehicles from a shop in Ridgeway. He enjoyed making a wide variety of truck toppers and related items. Later in life he enjoyed seeing the country delivering new RVs across the US. Upon retirement he kept busy building bird houses and feeding his birds.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50+ years Mary in 2008, his brothers Milan and Vernon, his half-brothers Wilbur Fingerson and Herbert Fingerson and his half-sister Fern Cook.

Dean is survived by his children Jill (Tom) Anderson of Blanchardville and Rod Reed of Reedsburg; his grandchildren Alysha Anderson, Jordan Anderson, Jason Reed, Lyndsey Reed-Knebel; his great grandchildren Carter, Camry, Emma and Declan.

A sincere thank you to the wonderful staff at Upland Hills NRC for the exceptional care and compassion given during Dad’s time there.  He truly felt comfortable there over the last few years. Also, to the hospital staff for the care given during his recent visits and their empathy during difficult days.

A Celebration of Dean’s Life will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be held in Otter Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the family for charitable donations.
