New look Pointers cruise over Hornets in opener

New year, new coach, old result.

The traditionally high energy Mineral Point girls basketball team rolled over SWC challenger Richland Center 74-20 Tuesday and gave first year head coach Nick Jelle his first win.

Ten girls got  into the scoring column with Laci Lindsey leading with 21 for the night.  She drained three of the eight  threes put up by the Pointers.

Ella Kroll and Maddy Kabat both put in nine with  Belle Watters and Bree Swenson adding seven.

“It was a good team win,” Jelle said about the blow out.  “I thought we did some good things offensively at times. Defensively we did good job causing issues especially early on.”

“It was nice to get that first win, and we will keep building upon it,” Jelle said.

The Pointers rolled to a 46-14 first half lead and outscored the Hornets 28-6 the second 18 minutes.
