Donald "Don" E. Paynter

Donald "Don" E. Paynter, 59, of Fitchburg, formerly of Dodgeville, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at UW Hospital surrounded by family members.  

Don was born at General Hospital in Dodgeville, WI to James "Jim" and June Paynter on December 27, 1963.  He had spent many years at Dodgeville Schools prior to his family moving to the New Glarus area. He graduated from New Glarus High School in 1982. He married Claudia Fonseca-Regalado on September 30, 2000, in Madison, WI. He worked for Oakwood Nursing Facility for 21 years. He enjoyed reading about WWII, listening to music, and walking.   

Donald is survived by his wife, Claudia, parents, James, and June Paynter of Blanchardville, Deborah (Paynter) May of Fort Atkinson, David (Karen) Paynter of Mesa, AZ, Daniel (Janet) Paynter of St. Francis, Diana Paynter of Madison, Deanne (Jeff) (Paynter) Van Matre of Argyle, and nephew, Christopher May of Fort Atkinson.  

Donald is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Louise Paynter, his maternal grandparents, Norbert and Dora Meuer, William "Wick" and Dorothy McNeill, and brother-in-law James "Jim" May.   

 A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until NOON on Monday, November 20, at the Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home, Dodgeville. A memorial service will be held at NOON. Burial at Graceland Cemetery, Mineral Point, will immediately follow the service. The Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home, Dodgeville, is serving the family.
