Along The Ad Routes

Saturday morning breakfast took four of us to the northwest when we landed in Muscoda at Vicki’s Cozy Cafe. It opens at 8:00 a.m. and there are always people standing outside waiting for that lock to click on the door! Dewey, who came from Spring Green, was one of those waiting outside as he’s almost always early. Bob, Terry and I arrived in Bob’s Cadillac SUV about 8:10 with Dewey holding a booth for us. The place was filled up except for a few places at their counter area. Tiffani, Vicki (the owner and cooks) daughter was our waitress with Aleah serving us coffee and water to get us started. Tiffani unlocked the door for those outside. She doesn’t smile much at the start because she says she doesn’t want to be there and she’s not a morning person. By the time we leave, though, she lightens up some and we get a smile - even though she says it’s a fake one (it’s really not)!

The food is always good and we love to check out the menu. There are some very interesting names for items that you can order (if you dare)!

The Mount Horeb/Barneveld Football Team fell two games short of making it to the state tournament Friday night when they lost 26-21 in Division 3 to Green Bay Notre Dame. They had a great season, led by several Barneveld players!

I stopped at brother Pat’s 60th class reunion held at the Red Room Bar & Restaurant in Dodgeville Saturday. It was good seeing a lot of familiar faces. I had many close friends in that Class of ‘63! I get to have my 60th next year!

Today (Thursday) is World Freedom Day, a day that really needs observance. World Freedom Day is a United States federal observance declared by then-President George W. Bush to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of communist rule in Central and Eastern Europe.
