Marking enters plea deal, sentencing in January
Tyler W. Marking, 28, who has been at the Iowa County Jail since a 10 count spree that involved a firearm entered a plea agreement in Iowa County Court Tuesday.
Marking was in the courtroom while his attorney, Jessa Nicholson and Judge Lisa McDougal appeared by video. The plea agreement involved amending one charge to first degree recklessly endangering safety to match another of the same charge and amending another charge to stalking with use of a dangerous weapon. Also under the agreement five counts were dismissed.
The dismissed counts included carrying a concealed weapon, resisting an officer, impersonating a peace officer, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
During testimony Marking admitted to having ADD and Schizophrenia. He is being medicated and said he is groggy at times.
Judge McDougal told Marking his sentencing will take place in person and scheduled it for January 5, 2024 at 1 p.m. She asked for a presentence investigation to be completed by December 29.
Curtis E. Johnson from the District Attorney’s office represented Iowa County in the case.
