Dodgers look ahead after strong Norski Invite finish
Peterson was more than ready for his return to wrestling as the freshman won the title at 106.
Dodgeville coach Ryan Lord was very pleased with how the invite went for the Dodgers.
"We had a decent day at the Norski Invitational on Saturday," Lord said. "In the team standings we placed sixth out of 17 teams."
Lord gave a rundown on the day for the Dodgers.
"Although we are getting close to full strength with Haakon making his Dodger debut, we are still hoping to get Thomas Lundell back from injury. We were also missing Colin Judd who had National Guard duty on Saturday. I think with Thomas and Colin, we probably could have jumped to fourth place in the tournament."
"Deforest also allowed reserve wrestlers to compete if there was space in the bracket, so most of our team was able to compete and gain valuable experience. Overall, we were happy with how our wrestlers performed and many of our less experienced wrestlers are showing a lot of improvement."
Individually the Dodgers were led by champions Haakon Peterson (106), Charlie Meudt (113) and Reid Spurley (120).
"I thought Haakon looked great in his Dodger debut. Haakon recorded two pins, a tech fall and a 10-3 victory in his finals match against Lodi senior Levi Ness. Charlie and Reid each had a first round bye followed by three pins to earn their championships. Nathan Johnson (126) also had a good day with a third place finish as well as Mason Winch (160) with a fourth place finish."
The Dodgers next competition will be on Thursday when we travel to Viroqua for a quad against Belmont/Platteville, G.E.T./Melrose Mindoro and Viroqua.
On Saturday Blaek Foust (106) and Hayden Husom (113) will compete in the Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches Association Challenge Series Final at Wausau West High School.
