Dodgers hold off hot shooting Blue Devils

The good thing about Chandler Batchelor being 7-2 is that he is not hard to find.
That can pay off in two ways.
One, if the Dodger boys basketball team finds him often enough good things happen.
Two, if the other team cannot have an answer for him, again good things happen but again for the Dodgers.
Tuesday both formulas worked well as Batchelor poured in 23 points and mesmerized the crowd with some thundering dunks. His inside presence was key as the Evansville Blue Devils were focusing on stopping Matthew Pittz from three point land.
While the Blue Devils scrapped the Dodgers held on for a 54-46 win.
As a side note Matthew Pittz did get loose for a three early in the game and was the second leading scorer with 11.
Evansville made a run at it with seven three pointers among their nine second half baskets. Sawyer Holman drilled four of them, Kole Johnson two and Graydon Geske one. They accounted for eight triples in the game as Caleb Maguigad added one the first half.
The margin could have been larger if the Dodgers had any success at the free throw line. They hade 32 trips to the stripe and made 15.
Dodgeville coach Matt McGraw feels the Dodgers are heading in the right direction with the win over a good blue Devils team.
"We pulled out another solid win against a very scrappy Evansville," McGraw said. "It is nice to get a 12 point win and still feel like we have more in us."
They shot the three well in the second half hitting seven of them and we shot less than 50% from the free throw line. Those factors kept it a little closer than we would like. Good teams find a way to win and that is what we did."
McGraw felt Batchelor played a big role in the win.
"Chandler had a big night getting 23 including a few very solid dunks. It's important that our guys find him especially when they faceguard Matthew like some other teams have. When we get a lot of post touches and limit turnovers we look pretty good. Those two things create so much for us. When we force stuff and forget about the post we can look "very average," McGraw said. Overall I am happy with the guys. We have to keep growing together each day."
