Pointers blow past Black Hawk

By Levi Zimmerman
The Mineral Point boys basketball team pushed its way into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association's week four poll, as they're ranked eighth in division 4.
The Pointers have been getting it done with strong defensive play and ball movement.
The unselfishness and camraderie has propelled Mineral Point to an undfeated 8-0 start after scoring a 79-39 victory over Black Hawk Thursday night.
After having more than a week off, it doesn't seem the Pointers lost their step.
Most importantly, it appears they are having fun playing the game, and it certainly helps when you're winning, but Mineral Point has played the same way from the start.
Head coach Dan Burreson shared his comments on the win and how the Pointers are doing.
"It was good to be able to play again after not playing for about 10 days. I thought we stayed true to who we are throughout, no matter what the score or the circumstances. We shared the ball well throughout and were committed on the defensive end," Burreson said.
"Landon Thousand continues to play well. He had double digit assists to go along with five steals. Eli Lindsey played well on both ends of the floor leading us with 19 points and playing very well defensively. Bryce Vamstad has played very well lately. Cooper Palzkill had four assists. Tremaine Kennicker played well on the defensive end and added seven points. Alex Ross continues to play well on both ends," he stated.
"It was good that everyone got a good amount of minutes and all 12 guys scored. We shared the ball well throughout the night and were committed defensively," he added.
"Also, I want to mention what a great teammate Gibsen Sporle has been. He has been unable to play, but he comes to practice everyday and is a big part of who we are. He is willing to do whatever he can to help the team," said Burreson.
The Pointers improved to 8-0 ahead of a big SWAL matchup with Fennimore.
