Panthers hang with Cubans before 3s set in
That is how Iowa-Grant's boys basketball team addressed their SWAL game with Cuba City Friday.
In the end the 10 three pointers the Cubans put in made the difference in a 67-40 win. But the final score was not the story of the game.
It was a 10 point game at halftime.
"I thought we played well in the first half running our offense for quality shots and doing our best to limit Cuba City on the defensive end," said Panther coach Nolan Krentz. "We continued to get quality looks in the second half, but unfortunately, could not get them to fall while Cuba City did."
Ashton Schmitz led the Panthers with 15 points.
The Cubans had three players reach double figures. Reece Rosenkranz led with 17, Gavin Vaassen added 12 and Riley Rosenkranz 11.
"The three-pointers arc proved to be the difference as Cuba City was able to knock down 10 three's in the game," Krentz said . "I was proud of our team's effort on both ends of the court tonight and the final score does not indicate our competitive fight throughout the game."
