Trio lead Dodgers to overtime win over Arrows
The game was played at 4:45 due to the ongoing officials shortage.
When all was said and done Reilly led the scoring with 18 points while Busch and White both chipped in 16. And each one had some huge shots along the way.
It was a good thing they were on because so was Lancaster's Lainey Burks who led all scorers with 24 points. Her four first half three pointers gave the Flying Arrows a 28-22 halftime lead.
Jenna Wolf, who did some clean-up work around the basket, added 10 for the Arrows.
Things started to slip away for the Dodgers halfway through the first half when the Arrows climbed to a 20-8 lead. But White found an opening underneath the hoop and slipped in a basket. Reilly followed with a free throw and an open three pointer to pull the Dodgers within six.
After a Burks three pointer, Reilly took the ball to the hoop and Ava Garthwaite followed with another close in shot
Burks then hit a three and Annie Martin scored on a steal to threaten another pull-away with a 10 point lead but White hit a free throw and Busch buried a three to cut the margin to six at the half.
Lancaster threatened to open the margin again in the second half but the Dodgers would not have any of that. They erased an eight point lead with seven minutes left with some big scores from the trio. White had a pair of free throws drop in and later a three point play when she was fouled on a made shot in the lane. Busch dropped in another three pointer and Reilly completed a drive.
Lilly Wiegel came through with a three pointer with 1:22 left for a 52-49 Dodgeville lead but Burks and Wolf made one and two free throws to tie things up and send the game to overtime.
Reilly opened the gate in the four minute period with a deep three pointer. Busch followed with a pair of free throws and Reilly made one for a 58-52 lead with 1:24 left. In the final ticks, Reilly made two free throws, White one and Wiegel one to more than offset a three by Burks and two throws by Wolfe.
"All three of those girls had their moments the second half," said Dodgeville coach Josh Busch. "They do a really good job feeding off and finding each other."
"We had a few turnovers the first half that did not help us but we took care of the ball better the second half," Busch said. "We also picked things up defensively. Also we came back twice from being down double digits for a good win."
The Dodgers are at River Valley tonight and travel to Reedsburg Saturday for a 1:15 pm varsity only contest.
