Prairie dominates first SWC Duals, RV 2nd, Dodgers 3rd
Their scores were: vs River Valley 56-9, vs Belmont/Platteville 61-15, vs Lancaster 72-0, vs Dodgeville 66-18, vs Richland Center 64-15.
River Valley edged Dodgeville 40-39 to take second with the host finishing Dodgers third.

Overall, we had a pretty good day. Our goal was to place first, but we knew beating Prairie was going to be a large task. We wanted to put up a better fight and thought we could have won a few more match ups than we did. We brought our extra 120 pounder Quinn Potaracke-Puzon, who placed fourth at the Wisconsin Challenge Series Final, to help us find match ups and bump our entire line up for certain duals. It turned out to be a very good strategy because without doing that, we would have lost to Dodgeville. They had a great showing. We only won by one point. We were on pins and needles knowing how close it was! They have some extremely talented wrestlers that have shots at winning even more state titles this year.
We as coaches talked a lot about adjusting this in the future. It's a challenge because a lot of us didn't have our normal line ups and next week we run into each other at one of the toughest tournaments around. I can say it was great to see all our conference coaches and their passion for the sport. We have a lot of talent in this conference.
DODGEVILLE
SWC DUALS

The Dodgeville wrestling team went 3-2 on Saturday at the first ever SWC Duals hosted by Dodgeville High School. In round 1 Dodgeville defeated Lancaster by a score of 54-21. In round 2 we lost a heartbreaker to River Valley by a score of 39-40. In round 3 we were able to avenge an early season loss to Richland Center, winning on Saturday by a score of 47-33. In round 4 we faced an extremely tough team in Prairie du Chien (currently ranked number 1 in Wisconsin) and lost by a score of 66-18. In the final round we were able to regroup and defeat Belmont/Platteville by a score of 53-30.
Individually Haakon Peterson, Charlie Meudt and Reid Spurley each went undefeated on the day. Mason Winch and Alex Pipkorn each went 4-1 on the day, while Nathan Johnson and Izaak Duran each went 3-2. Haakon is really starting to hit his stride after missing much of the season due to injury. He had a real statement win with a tech fall over Ethan Hady of Richland Center, who is a very good wrestler and ranked in the state. Charlie and Reid also looked extremely dominant in their wins as well, with all wins coming by pin or tech fall. Izaak Duran and Alex Pipkorn each had huge pins for us in the Belmont/Platteville dual. I knew we had to have one of them win in order to win the dual and it was great to see each of them come away with a pin, especially for Alex in his very last home competition as a Dodger wrestler.
