Fredericks' big night sends Cardinals over Zephyrs
First she was enshrined in the school's National Honor Society and then later took her talents to the basketball court where she poured in 21 points to send the Cardinals over Benton in a make-up game Monday, 63-43.
Fredericks helped the Cardinals to a 35-15 halftime lead with 13 of her points then buried eight the second half to help close out the win.
Fredericks was one of three players in double figures as senior guard Harper Drury and junior post Bronwyn Halverson both totaled 10.
Close behind was senior guard Grace Dreischmeier who added nine.
The Zephyrs stepped it up a little the second half and matched the 28 scored by the Cardinals. A run early in the quarter got them within seven but the Cards regrouped and ended up winning by 20
"We did a good job scoring and taking care of the basketball early," said coach Josh Tarrell. "We let them come back but then we fought through it and had a strong finish."
Tarrell said having three in double figures helped the Cardinals put the Zephyrs away.
Rival Belmont, who beat the Cardinals earlier this season, will be in Highland for a Six Rivers West rematch Thursday.
