Childcare costs, wages show need for funding, advocates say

A childcare shortage could worsen if expiring federal funds are not replaced, advocates say.
"The childcare situation in Wisconsin is dire," said Christy Hamilton Cole of Mineral Point, parent lead for the Wisconsin Early Childhood Association Raising Wisconsin.
The group advocates for state funding to continue a Child Care Counts program that funneled federal money to providers during the pandemic but is ending in December....
