Vinje, Edward James



Edward James Vinje, age 79 of Hollandale died on Monday, December 25, 2023 at the Upland Hills Nursing and Rehab Center in Dodgeville.  He was born on July 28, 1944 in Monroe at St. Clare hospital to Edwin Helmer and Lyla Marion (Anderson) Vinje.  He grew up on the family farm in rural Hollandale and attended grade school, first in Hollandale, and then at the Moscow Center rural school.  He graduated from the Hollandale High School in 1962 and attended MATC for two years to learn cabinet making.  He worked as a carpenter for many years, worked at Badger Ordinance in Baraboo for a time, hauled mail out of Madison for a few years, and then painted with his dad and brother Paul for many years.  Ed was an avid fisherman and gardener.  He loved time out in rural Hollandale.  He also enjoyed sending Christmas gifts to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ed is survived by his daughter, Connie (Bill) Johnson of rural Hollandale; his brother Donald Vinje of Hollandale; his sister, Elizabeth Botti of Telford, Pennsylvania; 3 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a good friend Paul “Poopsie” Hughes of Hollandale.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary in infancy; a brother Paul; and one nephew, Blair.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Blanchard Hall at 204 South Main Street in Blanchardville.  A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Blanchard Hall.  Rev.
