Paul Joseph Shemak, age 73, passed away on Friday evening December 22, 2023, at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville, with his beloved family by his side. He was born on October 22, 1950, in Dodgeville; the son of Jim and Doris (Knesting) Shemak. Paul was united in marriage to Lori Lindner on December 26, 1997.
Paul graduated from Highland High School and then farmed with his father and brother, David on the family farm. He later worked various jobs in the area and in 1997, he established P & L Livestock. He loved his job and was very dedicated to his customers. Paul enjoyed the simple life and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and being their biggest fan. Paul was very proud to be a charter member of the Highland Rodeo Club. He was also an avid sports fan and liked cheering on the Green Bay Packers and sitting down to a glass of his favorite whisky. He and Lori also enjoyed going camping and riding horses. He was always looking for that “Good Deal”. Paul was a dedicated man to his family and friends and will be remembered for his fantastic sense of humor, and let’s just say, if you know, you know.
Paul is survived by his wife, Lori of Montfort; five children; and 17 grandchildren; Jamey (Michelle) Shemak of Highland and his family Christian, Jenna, Gavin, and Taci Shemak; Tim Shemak (Heather Johnson) of Cobb and his family Lane (Kylie), Bekka Jo, Kaydee Shemak and Cole, Karsen, Peyton Johnson; Brandon (Michelle) Butteris of Montfort and his family Kadence and Maylee Butteris; Brittany (Patrick) Loeffelholz of Livingston and her family Treaton, Trinity, and Taytum Loeffelholz; and Brook Butteris (Ben Mick) of Montfort and her family, Deklynn Butteris and Daxxyn Mick; his brother, Dave (Brenda) Shemak of Fennimore; and sister in-law, Judy Shemak of Highland.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jim Shemak.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort, WI. Burial will follow in the Rock Church Cemetery in rural Livingston, WI. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home, on Thursday morning.
