William 'Bill' Bahr 'Doehead', 77, of Avoca died at home on December 18, 2023. He was born on May 13, 1946 to Leland and Virginia (Dax) Bahr in Richland Center, WI. He graduated from Muscoda High School in 1964. He was drafted on December 22, 1965 and served as a Spec-5 in the Army. He received the National Defense Service Medal for service during a national emergency. He was honorably discharged December 2, 1967. He then went on to work as a Journeymen Lineman for the Hooper Cooperation in 1968 and retired in 2008. He was a member of the IBEW Local 953. He was a farmer and worked on the family farm. He served on the Pulaski Town Board. Bill was proud to be a part of the group, Friends of the Avoca Prairie, who helped to guarantee public access to the Avoca Prairie by way of Hay Lane Road. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 335 of Avoca.
Bill took daily driving tours of the Avoca countryside chatting with neighbors and friends along the way. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He looked forward to his annual fishing trip to Canada with the guys. He spent summers tending to his vegetable garden and sunflowers. In retirement, he enjoyed cooking and baking.
Bill is survived by his children: Carie (Matt) Cihlar, Bobbie (Ryan) Ahnen, and Billy (Jessica) Bahr. He valued time spent with the grandchildren: Ian, Luke and Ella Cihlar; Ava and Lydia Ahnen; Ethan, Austin and Colten Bahr. Siblings: Susie (Jerome) Bischoff and Joan (John) Horn. Sister-in-law Jan Bahr. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Virginia, and his brother Bob Bahr.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Godager Pratt Funeral Home in Muscoda. Burial with military graveside rites will follow in the Avoca Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the Godager Pratt Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers and plants, the family asks that you make a donation in Bill's name to the Avoca American Legion and Auxiliary Post 335. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
