Eagle girls split in two outings

The extra four minutes the Barneveld girls basketball team got to play Thursday at Belleville did not come out the way the Golden Eagles hoped.

After battling the Wildcats to a 45 all tie at the end of regulation the hosts went on to outscore the Eagles 7-4 in the extra period.

The loss came even with 27 point scoring by sophomore guard Izzy Durst who got her total before fouling out.

Torin Devoe, who put in a free throw in the extra period, had 16 points for the Wildcats to lead their scoring. Maddie DeSmet  added 12 and also had a free throw in the OT. Khylee Lietz had a huge three pointer in the extra four minute frame and Nikole Schuetz had a free throw while also scoring 11 for the game.

Belleville had a 31-26 lead at intermission but the Eagles got it tied with a 19-14 edge in a slow paced second half.

The game was a non-conference test for both teams.

Earlier last week the Eagles coasted past a young Benton team 55-28.

Durst had 16 and Brynn Meyer 12 to lead the scoring.

The Eagles led 32-28 at the half and outscored the Zephyrs 23-10 the last 18 minutes.
