We are sad to announce the passing of Vivian Lynn Bauman of Mineral Point, Wisconsin. Vivian was born on June 20, 1943 as the daughter of Anna Josephine (Gildea) Dunning and Herbert Elsworth Dunning (deceased).
Vivian died at the age of 80 on December 15, 2023 at the Care Center in Mineral Point. Vivian passed away with her husband Allen by her side after a long-time battle with dementia.
Vivian was an exceptional mother, wife, teacher, volunteer and friend to many. She was known by her bright smile, positivity, love for people and love for Jesus. Vivian is survived by her husband Allen Bauman who she was married to for over 60 years, brother Doug, and extended family throughout the US.
She is also survived by her children Kristi DeLong (Hollis, NH), Bobbyjon (Wintersville, OH), Jason (Orlando, FL) and Jesse (Mineral Point, WI). Vivian was preceded in death by her sister Joyce and brother Lloyd.
Vivian was a graduate of Wauwatosa East High School. She also attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a Bachelors in Elementary Education, and received a Masters in Education from Western Kentucky University. Vivian was an inspiring teacher who taught in the Mineral Point and Dodgeville (Ridgeway) school systems for many years.
Vivian was a faithful member of Hidden Valley Community Church in Dodgeville for many years, and prior to that at Hope Lutheran Church in Mineral Point for 37 years. Her faith was extremely important to her and her children have a legacy of ministry throughout the world.
Vivian was also a fierce fan of Mineral Point High School wrestling and athletics, where she dedicated much time and energy together with her husband Allen.
Vivian also loved singing and music, regularly participating in choirs, musicals, together with Allen leaving a heritage of a music-loving family.
To honor Vivian’s memory, we are holding a celebration of her life on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at HOPE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 555 Commerce Street, Mineral Point, WI. The funeral will be followed by a lunch reception at the Quality Inn in Mineral Point. All who knew and loved Vivian are invited to attend. On Tuesday, December 19, 2023 the Bauman family will be hosting a visitation from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. at HOPE LUTHERAN CHURCH for those who wish to stop by.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to the Mineral Point Rescue Squad or the Mineral Point Wrestling Club, or to nonprofits led by the Bauman family that serve underprivileged children in the US and Brazil. Condolences may be shared to the family at www.gorgenfh.com
