Eugene Earl Lindauer, age 93, passed away Saturday November 25, 2023, at Emerald Bay Assisted Living. He was born April 21, 1930, to the late Homer and Lulu (Rule) Lindauer in Linden, WI. He graduated from Linden High School with the class of 1948 where he was an all-star basketball player. He then attended the University of Platteville. On March 4, 1950, he married his high school sweetheart, Melva Tredinnick. After teaching for four years in Cobb, he started working for The Department of Agriculture in Mineral Point, then Madison and ending in Green Bay, retiring as Regional Supervisor in Trade and Consumer Protection for 37 years.
Eugene was a longtime member of Bethany United Methodist Church since 1966. He enjoyed spending time at the cottage on Shawano Lake, hunting and doing crafts with his long-time friends, Dick and Elaine Baeten, known as the TRIPPERS, they would spend their crafting money traveling around the world. Eugene was proud of locating some distant relatives in Lindau Germany and he kept in close contact with them. Most of all, he enjoyed his sports, football, baseball, and basketball were his passion.
More than anything, Eugene loved his family. He is survived by his wife: Melva; four daughters: Tari (Don) Gray, Sherry Smith, Jeri Lindauer (Dan Jahr), and Mari (Rich) Johnson; one son: Cary Lindauer (special friend, Cathy Megna); eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two brothers: Larry (Bonnie) Lindauer, Gary Lindauer; sisters-in-law: Donna Lindauer, and Cathryn Tredinnick; Numerous extended family and friends survive.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws: Lyle Tredinnick and Ruth Allen; three brothers: Bill (Helen) Lindauer, Shorty (Toddy) Lindauer, and Royce Lindauer; sister-in-law: Donna Lindauer; son-in-law: Wayne Smith; nephews: Todd Lindauer, and John Lindauer; brothers-in-law: Donald Tredinnick, Doug and Doris Tredinnick; Melva’s half-brother: Myles Allen; and Melva’s half-sisters: Barb Layman and Viola Claire Alderete
A funeral service will be held Tuesday December 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church, 535 Main St., Linden, WI with Pastor Gary Cole. Visitation will occur from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
