Gerald (Jerry) Kraus

Gerald (Jerry) Kraus, passed away on Friday, December 8th, 2023, at Upland Hills Hospital in Dodgeville, Wisconsin.

He was born May 29, 1938 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin to Frank Kraus and Lenora (Zander) Kraus. He was a 1956 graduate of Ridgeway High School. On August 3, 1963, he married Judith (Johnston) Kraus in Dodgeville at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Jerry was a devoted, loving husband, father, and grandfather. Jerry spent 43 years working at Carnes Company in Verona, Wisconsin.

Some of his favorite hobbies included watching the Badgers and Packers play football, taking drives through Governor Dodge State Park, driving through his childhood neighborhood of Pleasant Ridge, and spending time with his family and friends. Jerry enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in events and loved spending time with them. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to others and enjoyed chatting and telling jokes.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Judith; his children, Cindy (Alan) Downs, Carla (Jeff) Vivian, and Susanne (Rick) Niehaus; his 5 grandchildren, Ciara (Downs) Day, Kira Downs, Cassidy Downs, Zachary Vivian, and Gabriella Niehaus; as well as his great-granddaughter Chloe Day.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Francis Kraus and Kathleen (Kraus) Koning, as well as his parents Lenora and Frank.

Private family services will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Special thanks to all the doctors and nurses at Upland Hills Hospital as well as the University Hospital for taking special care of Jerry during his time there.
