Sally A. Kitelinger, age 84, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison on Friday, December 1, 2023. Sally was born on February 27, 1939, in Glen Haven, Wisconsin, the daughter of Oscar and Esther Lindner.
Growing up, Sally’s family were neighbors to another farm family where there has a handsome young man that caught her eye. On February 19, 1957, she married that young man and they were blessed with 52 wonderful years together. They spent the majority of their married life in Livingston where they raised their seven children. After losing her husband, Ed, in April of 2009, Sally moved to Sienna Crest in Dodgeville. She thought the world of the residents and was an integral part of the Sienna Crest family.
Sally was a devoted Christian and a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. She was a beautiful person you never forgot with a heart larger than life. Her spunk and silliness were like none other and earned her the name of “Silly Sally”. She brought a smile and laughter to everyone she met. Sally was an amazing cook and made the best apple pie in the world. You never walked into her kitchen without seeing something freshly baked. In addition to raising her family, for many years Sally provided care for many children in the Livingston area. She loved them and treated them like her own.
Sally is survived by her children: Dan (Cindy) Kitelinger, Kathy (John) Digman, Brenda Ray, Randy (Jody) Kitelinger, Jim (Amy) Kitelinger, Joe (Lisa Fusco) Kitelinger, Jason (Kim) Kitelinger; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She is further survived by her siblings: Linda (Fred) Skaife, Pat Addison, Jack (Abby) Lindner, Don (Kathy) Lindner, Dick (Ellen) Lindner, Mary (Bruce) Coyier, and Larry (Bobbi Jo) Lindner. Sally had a fondness for cardinals and when one was near, she knew a loved one she’d lost was giving her a sign. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her brother, Junior Lindner; sisters, Mary Ann Lindner and Diane Allbee; and sons-in law, Dave Olson and Dennis Ray.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Saints Anthony and Philip Catholic Church in Highland. Burial will be in Rock Church Cemtery in rural Livingston.
