Mary Louise Forseth, age 91, of Dodgeville, passed away at the Meadows Assisted Living and Memory Care Center in Spring Green, on Sunday, December 3, 2023. Mary was born on November 6, 1932 to Severnus and Helen (Wiest) Yager. She was the 3rd oldest of 12 siblings. She married the man who captured her heart, Vernon Forseth, on July 3, 1951 and together raised a family of 11 children.  They enjoyed a full life together traveling in their camper to Alaska, yearly Canadian fishing trips, wintering in Texas and many other adventures. Together they enjoyed woodcrafting fairs, canning and gardening, milking cows and farming and many other events over the 65 years they were married.

Mary held various jobs over the years to support her family. She served as an EMT in Waunakee, then went onto MATC at age 55 to obtain her Human Services Degree and she was so proud to work at NewStart in Madison and was active in Al-Anon. In her later years, she was a Hospice Volunteer for Upland Hills in Dodgeville. She also provided loving care to her late husband for many years and was a cancer survivor of Large B Cell Lymphoma. After Vernon passed away, she slowly developed mild Dementia. She was lovingly cared for at the Meadows for 5 years by their wonderful staff and her family advocates, especially her daughter Susan and Terry Voigts.

Mary had a full life. She hung many a diapers on the line, baked, cooked, crafted, attended sports, she loved deer camp, board games, cards, Hallmark movies and serving her amazing sweet dill pickles and raspberry jam. Mary was passionate about family history. She created over 30 photo memory albums for her children and grandchildren, this was her legacy. Her loving ways and kind spirt will be missed by many.

Mary is now united with her husband, Vernon in heaven. She is survived by their children, Susan (Terry) Voigts, Mike (Lynn) Forseth, Sheila (Eugene) Fischer, Teresa Steele, Mitch Forseth, Yvonne (Mark) Vils, Tim (Nancy) Forseth; her daughter-in-law, Erika Forseth; 24 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; her siblings, Doris Ast, Ted (DeeDee) Yager and Suzette Yager; other relatives and many friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vernon, and her daughters, Shelley and Cherrie, her sons, Patrick and Harold, her siblings, Darlene, Leo, Louis, George, Tom, Grace, Joan and Rita.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Forseth will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at ST. JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville. Burial will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. on Thursday at the Church.
