Knights at Belleville tonight for NL semifinals

The one constant thing about the Night League wild cart entry in the post season playoffs is that team can never host.

So the Dodgeville Knights have been traveling since earning the wild card berth with a 1-0 win over the Arena Aces. So far they have been to Monona to claim an 11-1 win over Monona/McFarland and to Montello where they beat the Granite Jaxx 6-1.

Next up is Belleville in semi-final action Thursday. The winner of that game will face either defending NL champion Verona or Reedsburg for the championship August 31.

After a two hour trip to Montello Friday the Knights were able to ride a five hitter by Ryan Kussmaul and Lucas Lendosky to the win. Kussmaul went 6 1/3 with five hits, six strikeouts and a walk before giving way to Lendosky two fanned two and walked two.

Kussmaul gave up a home run to losing pitcher Tyler Blum in the second for the lone Granite Jaxx run.

The Knights took a 1-0 lead in the first when Tarron Bockhop, Jordan Olson and Justin Baehler all singled to load the bases and Leyton Bowers lofted a fly ball that was dropped for the run.

The Knights  took a 3-1 lead in the fourth. Bockhop was hit by a  pitch and raced home on a double by Olson. Baehler’s singled to plate Olson.

The Knights put it away in the seventh. Josh Dressler and Jordan Williams both coaxed walks and advanced on a wild pitch. Grant Bossert then sent the ball into space beyond deep left center for a 6-1 lead.

The Knights had a dozen hits.  Baehler was 4x4, Olson 3x4 with one hit each by Bossert, Sean Reilly, Bockhop and Dom McVay.

Bockhop was on base three times, twice by getting hit by a pitch.
