Straight Talk Letter Contains Lots of LoopyThinking

Dear Editor,

In the  letter last week from a former army infantryman the writer claimed to be taught by the army to “ say  it straight”. But, his letter contained a lot of loopy ideas. If the army taught the writer to be swayed by unfounded conspiracy theories, shame on the army. Fortunately, the many people I know who honorably served in the army do not share the writer’s faux “ straight talk”.  The writer’s extreme views are nothing more than well worn sound bites provided by the right wing echo chamber.

This writer brags about how good he is and how bad others are who don’t share his extreme views. Ironically, the writer asserts that “ [T]he Constitution and foundational principles of equal justice for all are sacrosanct to me”. But he gives former President Trump a pass for encouraging seditionists to attack our US Capital on January 6, 2021 in a violent effort to stop the lawful certification of electoral votes.

If one believes in equal justice for all, then no one is above the law. That is a foundational principle the writer ignored.
