Leah is the best choice

Dear Editor;
Having recently met Leah Spicer and having been thoroughly impressed with her knowledge, her energy and her passion for our area and its people, I am writing to express why I think she is the best choice for the Wisconsin State Assembly district 51.
Leah's focus on public education gives me hope that, with her working for us in Madison, there will be more equity in Wisconsin school funding. If we want a thriving democracy, we can't shortchange our public schools and I'm sure you know that our rural public schools are struggling.
Leah will strive to make every citizen's vote count. The gerrymandering that her opponent, Mr. Novak, voted for sliced away parts of Ridgeway, Barneveld and Hollandale rendering those areas less competitive. No one wants to feel that their vote doesn't matter!
Leah cares deeply about the health of the Driftless Area and she is concerned, as so many of us are, about the environmental legacy that we will leave our children and grandchildren. She also believes in fairness in paying for pollution cleanup. Her opponent wants to excuse polluters from paying their fair share toward that end. They made the mess while reaping their profits. I am in agreement with Leah that the burden of paying for the cleanup should not fall entirely on the taxpayers. Her opponent prefers to hold them blameless while she knows that holding them accountable is the fair thing to do.
In conclusion, Leah's stances on public education, gerrymandering and the environment are just three of the reasons that I support her. She is more than capable and extremely motivated to listen to and work with and for us. Unfortunately, her opponent seems only to listen to Republican leadership. Leah will address our concerns and she will fight for us in the Wisconsin state house.
