Freshman hurler recored one hitter over B/S


Highland turned to freshman pitcher Kate Tarrell to face Benton/Shullsburg Tuesday and she went on to shut out the co-op team in a 5-0 Cardinals win.
Highland got on the board in the first inning when Grace Dreischmeier singled with one out, advanced on a hit by Lilly Michek and scored on a single by Meg Tarrell.
They added two in the fourth when Bronwyn Halverson reached on an error, advanced on a passed ball, took third on a hit by Harper Drury and scored on an error. Drury advanced on an error and scored on an error.
A run in the fifth came after Meg Tarrell walked, stole second, got to third on an error and scored on a ground out by Drury.
The final Cardinal run was scored by Ella Cody who singled to lead off he sixth, stole second and scored on a hit by Michek.
Michek and Tarrell both had two hits to lead the Cardinals. Cody, Dreischmeier and Drury had one hit each.
Kate Tarrell limited Benton/Shulsburg to one hit while fanning six and three.
