Evansville ends Dodgeville's season

It took a four minute stretch in the second half for the Evansville girls basketball team to pull away from Dodgeville Wednesday and turn a halftime deficit into a 70-59 win.
The Dodgers started and ended their season with the Blue Devils. Evansville won the first meeting to open Dodgeville's season 44-38.
The Blue Devils advanced to play Prairie du Chien on Friday in the WIAA Division 3 post season tournament. Prairie is the top ranked team in the state in the AP poll for the division.
The Dodgers jumped out to a 9-4 lead when Lily Wiegel hit a pair of three pointers with another three by McKenna Reilly between Wiegel's two.
Maggie White then scored twice, once on a drive and another basket from underneath to put the Dodgers up 13-9.
Before halftime Reilly had another three and a pair of makes in the lane and Wiegel added a pair of two pointers for the healthy lead.
The Blue Devils, a member of the Rock Valley conference, tied the game at 15:40 the second half on a three pointer. White scored to put the Dodgers back up 38-36 but a pair of free throws by Maria Messling tied it again at 38 all.
A basket by Messling from the lane and another from underneath by Chinna Hermanson gave the Blue Devils the lead they kept the rest of the game.
An 18-2 run from 8:40 to 3:27 iced it for Evansville. Sydney Hazard and Messling hit three point shots and Hazard picked up three more on a drive and a free throw to start the run.
Reilly had five points down the stretch for the Dodgers with Ava Garthwaite adding a three pointer and Wiegel a score off a drive but it wasn't enough.
Reilly led the Dodgers with 17 points with the sophomore guard netting a pair of threes. Wiegel, a freshman guard, added 14, also with a pair of threes.
The Blue Devils had four girls in double figures making them a hard team to stop. Messling led with 24 while Ava Bradenberg netted 15, Hazard added 13 and Hermanson 11.
Dodgeville ended its season 7-18. Evansville moved on at 12-13.
The game was the last for Dodgeville senior Emma Blume who was a part time starter and back up post for the Dodgers.
