Allen felt IG/H wrestlers did their best at state, Welsh wins 100th

Even though Iowa-Grant/Highland was short handed when two wrestlers were forced to withdraw at the last minute coach Ryan Allen was proud of the effort he saw at the state meet.
"I was very proud of our guys this weekend," Allen said. "They have worked very hard to get to this point. I thought we wrestled well and was happy to bring home some hardware."
"Jackson Kemnitzer did a great job wrestling in his first state tournament. He wrestled well and was one move away from getting the win but just couldn't get it. Jackson has come a long way in the last few years not only on the mat, but off the mat, as well.
"Mason Welsh did a great job this weekend and finished off the year with his 100th win in the fifth place match. After a tough loss in the quarters, Mason rallied back and got a big win to earn fifth. I am very proud of Mason as he has been a workhorse and leader for us the last four years. He will be tough to replace next year.
"Elliott Biba did a great job this weekend finishing second in the state at 113. He wrestled very well this weekend, staying aggressive and keeping the pressure on his opponents. The loss in the finals was tough as we got thrown for five right away and had to try to battle back. But a runner-up finish is pretty awesome and I am happy for him. He is a hard working kid with a lot of determination and he will be back next year."
