Eagles close out regular season with win over Ponies

No one can say Emma Gordon does not know how to celebrate Senior Night.
Gordon, the lone senior on the Barneveld girls basketball team, not only scored a career high 15 points to lead the Golden Eagles over Monticello 55-42 to close out the Six Rivers East season, she also nailed a trio of three pointers, also a career high. Add to that the defensive assignment to slow down the leading scorer for the Ponies and Gordon was a very busy girl.
"Emma has been crucial to our team this year," said coach Chris Thousand. "She is usually guarding the other teams best player and she is currently our leading three point shooter on the year."
Junior Shelbi Marx led the Eagles in scoring with 18 points. One of the highlights of the game was when junior Eva Schutz hit a last second three pointer at the end of the half to send the Eagles into the locker room with a 31-22 lead..
Ella Gustafson led the Ponies with 18 points and Delana Trumpy added 17.
The Eagles finished the regular season 8-18.
