Pointers knock off ranked Brodhead

Those following Wisconsin girls basketball and the rankings knew one thing about the match-up between #2 Mineral Point and #3 Broadhead in the finals of the Evansville Holiday Tournament last week, it would be one heck of a game.
And for those treated to watching it, the game lived up to its hype. The two teams went at each other shot for shot until the Pointers pulled away for a 47-44 win.
The Pointers led by four at halftime, 23-19 and carried that margin forward to win by three. It was that kind of a game.
Mallory Lindsey finished things off strong for the Pointers with 10 second half points to score 15. Kennedy Wenger also got loose for seven of her nine points during the last 18 minutes.
Blair Watters was a force the first half with 10 of her 14 points.
Only the five starters scored. Katelyn Cox added six points to the total while Ellie Chambers had three and ran the show from the point most of the day.
Abbie Dix, a 5-11 junior, and Addie Yates, a 5-8 senior, tried to turn the game in favor of the Cardinals with 12 and nine points down the stretch. Dix finished with 18 Yates 12.
The Pointers are now 11-0 while Brodhead fell to 10-2.
