IG-H second place finish shows path is moving upward
That is one reason why the team's second place finish in their division is a great accomplishment.
The Panthers had four place winners. Cal Dorota cruised through the 195 pound bracket and took the title. Elliott Biba finished fifth at 113. Isaac Biba was 6th at 295 and Caden Lindner 10th at 138.
Allen was glad his wrestlers got to experience the quality of the classic.
"It was a great tournament for our guys. I thought we wrestled pretty well and it was a great test to see where we're at," Allen said.
Allen gave a rundown on how the wrestlers fared.
Cal Dorota
"Obviously I thought Cal did a great job in taking home the title at 195. He really did a great job getting to his offense both on his feet and on the mat. If he stays focused and wrestles this way the rest of the year, he will be hard to beat."
Elliott Biba
"Elliot didn't finish where he wanted to but wrestled well in getting fifth in a loaded bracket. He will learn from his mistakes and get better."
Isaac Biba
"Isaac had a great tournament and scored a lot of points for our team. He had a lot of pins on his way to sixth place. He continues to do what he is good at and presses his situations on guys and that is where he scores. He has been fun to watch this year."
Caden Lindner
"Caden wrestled hard and did a great job getting 10th place. He has really done a great job this year committing himself to wrestling smarter and it has showed."
The Rest of the Team
"We had several guys who were just a match or two short of getting on the podium. Our team, as a whole, did a nice job. We scored enough to get second in Division 3 and I am proud of them for that. In a tournament of this caliber placing that high means your guys are working hard. We will need to keep up that hard work be ready for next week."
