Dodgers come up one point short in battle with Cubans

Emma Vosberg's runner in the lane held up for Cuba City for a 50-49 win over Dodgeville in non-conference girls basketball Monday.
The Dodgers led most of the first half before a late Cuban run gave them a 26-18 lead at the half. Freshman Oliva Olson had 12 of her 15 the first half and Vosberg contributed six, later finishing with 14. Jenna Dailey, who had 10 second half points ,also ended up a strong outing with 15.
The Dodgers were trailing 44-40 before McKenna Reilly scored on a drive, then added two free throws and finished with a deep three to make it a two point game at 50-48 after Vosberg's last basket.
The Dodgers had a chance to tie with 11 seconds left while in double bonus but Maggie White had her first try fall off the rim before making her second for a 50-49 score.
The Cubans then missed a bonus free throw try and the Dodgers had a chance at the win but a last second three fell off the rim.
The Dodgers also had three players in double figures. Reilly finished with 16, Marly Busch 12 and White 11.
Free throws were a problem for both teams as the Dodgers were 10 for 20 and the Cubans five for 16.
