Dodgeville wrestling coach Ryan Lord felt the trip to Bi-State for the wrestlers who could make it was a great experience.
The Dodgers, suffering from the injury bug, picked up enough points to finish 10th in the Division 2 section of the tournament. They got one champion, Reid Spurley at 113, and one third place finish, Charlie Meudt at 103.
"Our wrestlers got to see what it takes to wrestle here (Bi-State) and let them see what they need to work on. This was a huge showcase."
Meudt has been battling an elbow injury and it may have kept him from a championship. In the match he lost his elbow got twisted by his opponent.
"It was torqued quite a bit," Lord said. "He hasn't been able to see time on the mat for three weeks but was feeling better and wanted to give it a go.
Lord said Meudt was dominate at times and was pretty impressive.
"I was impressed with what he was able to do," said Lord.
Spurley was awesome in Lord's estimation.
"He was focused the whole tournament," Lord said. "He was able to get out fast and was pretty unbelievable."
Lord added that Spurley was able to be on the attack in the finals and kept the pressure on right up to the win.
Lord also commented the Mason Winch at 160 had a chance to finish on the podium but got caught in a cradle which ended up costing him.
"He is getting better on his feet and he works hard," Lord added. "He has the skills but he needs to improve his confidence and get better at not forcing things. He is working on staying within himself."
Also wrestling for the Dodgers were Caden Zumbrunen at 126, Colin Judd at 132 and Brighton Judd at 285.
