Dodger girls take out Mount Horeb
They are on an end-of-the-season two game win streak which has seen them play some pretty good basketball against River Valley last Friday and Mount Horeb Tuesday.
"We talked about having three games to get ready for the post season and we need to play like we want it," said coach Josh Busch. "Now, after the past two games I think we are getting back to being us."
Busch said the 60-54 win over a good Mount Horeb team makes him believe the girls are on the right track.
"We played good defense as a group and we were much improved offensively," Busch added. "Marley (Busch) got us going early then was joined by McKenna Reilly and Maggie White who combined for 24 of our 30 first half points. They carried us the first half."
When the starters struggled at the start of the second half Busch went to his bench to give them a shot and they did not miss a beat.
"Rylee Forsyth, Emma Blume, Ava Garthwaite, Rayona Kitelinger and Julia Thompson played well as a unit," Busch added. "Then when the other girls got back in they made the plays."
"It was a good win for us," Busch said.
Marley Busch led the Dodgers with 18 and Maggie White added 14. Emma Anderson led Mount Horeb with 17.
The Dodgers host Evansville in the first round of the post season Tuesday at 7 pm.
