What can we do?

Dear Editor;
My dad is a resident of Bloomfield Health & Rehab Center. Before moving there he was living in a private facility. After his money ran out, my brother and I had to find him a new home. We chose Bloomfield thinking he could stay there until the end of his life. Not the case!
How is it that the county can spend millions on a law enforcement center, yet they can't keep Bloomfield open? It seems we are taking better care of the prisoners than the elderly who have worked hard and paid taxes.
Where are the people that need a facility like Bloomfield going to be cared for in the future? Those who voted to close Bloomfield may need a facility for themselves or a loved one. Think about it!
Everyone who is employed at Bloomfield treats the residents like family. They are truly special, caring and compassionate people. Some have over 20 years invested. They were all shocked after they were told the news of closing.
When my brother and I met with the social worker, she told us that there was one facility in the county with openings and one in Dane County. Other facilities have waiting lists.
In an article I read in the Dodgeville Chronicle, it was reported that there would be a referendum on this issue. What happened?
Sincerely,
Barb Phillips
