Head coach Mike Keyes and his number one-ranked Mineral Point girls basketball team made it 20 straight wins Thursday night, with a 91-55 victory over the Boscobel Bulldogs in a Southwest Wisconsin Activities League matchup.
This was the second time the two teams faced each other, after meeting up on December 17 at Boscobel, where the Pointers collected an 80-38 victory.
In that game, Mineral Point buried nine, three-point field goals, which isn't that surprising, as they average about five, three's per contest.
On Thursday, senior guard Ella Chambers and the Pointers wasted no time grabbing an early 12-0 lead.
Chambers knocked down two three's on back-to-back possessions, with assists by seniors Mallory Lindsey and Blair Watters.
Boscobel's Sarah Knowles finally ended their offensive drought with a two-point basket five minutes into play.
Chambers proceeded to drill her third three-pointer and then scored a two-point basket following a steal to push Mineral Point's lead to 17-2.
The Bulldogs found some momentum with a six-point run led by Erin Knowles, bringing the score to 23-12 with under eight minutes left in the first half.
A nine-point run by the Pointers would give them more breathing room, as Mallory Lindsey hit a jumper and then assisted junior Kennedy Wenger on a basket.
Freshman Laci Lindsey came off the bench and dished out an assist to Blair Watters, who converted a three-point play with a score while she was fouled and made the free throw.
Lindsey found her three-point shot after a Boscobel score, hitting back-to-back three-pointers to push Mineral Point's lead to 41-14.
The Bulldogs made a late push in the first, going on their own nine-point swing.
Erin Knowles knocked down a three and a two, while Gretta Grassel and Tessa Riley added two-point baskets.
Chambers made her fourth three of the half just before halftime to lead the Pointers into the break to a 48-27 score.
Picking up where she left off, Chambers opened the second half with another three-pointer, her fifth of the game.
She added a free throw later to end the game with 18 points.
Mallory Lindsey also continued to light it up from deep, going on to make four more three's in the second half in addition to the three she made in the first.
Along with the seven, three's, Lindsey had a couple two-point scores and went two-for-two from the free throw line to go for 27 points.
Blair Watters scored most of her points attacking the rim, with four, two-point baskets and five made free throws.
Watters ended with 19 points.
Junior Katelyn Cox added 12 points, and Wenger had 10.
Mineral Point out-scored Boscobel, 43-28 in the second half.
Senior Delaney Ross knocked down a three-pointer to get back into the scoring column for the Pointers.
Erin Knowles led the Bulldogs with 22 points, including three, three's.
Abri Brown had 15, with two, three's, and Sarah Knowles added eight.
Altogether, 19, three-point field goals were made in the game.
While improving to 20-0, overall, the Pointers also improved to 10-0 in the SWAL, where they're two games ahead of second-place Cuba City.
Mineral Point will host the Cubans Friday, Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
