Eagles find way to win over Vikings

Free throws-the ones the Barneveld girls team made and ones the Pecatonica Vikings did not-virtually decided the 45-42 win the Eagles picked up in Thursday's Six Rivers East match-up.
Golden Eagles junior guard Mya Baker made nine of 10 gift shots on her way to a career high 20 points. Fellow junior Elle Pechan added 14 and was seven of nine from the line.
Baker was consistent with 10 points each half.
"Mya was a force for us all night," said Eagles coach Chris Thousand.
Pechan was also consistent with six points the first half and eight the second.
The teams were tied at 19 at the half.
The Eagles had to contend with the post play of Vikings standout Lexi Peterson. Peterson finished the night with 17 points.
"We had trouble slowing her down," Thousand said about Peterson. She eventually fouled out.
Where the game was decided-at the charity stripe-Barneveld was 18 for 30 while Pecatonica could only make nine of 25. The Vikings missed eight tries the second half. During the same time the Eagles were seven for 11.
"Neither team was able to separate from each other as it stayed tight throughout," Thousand added.
But the Eagles outscored the Vikings 26-23 for the win.
