Dodger boys handle challenge from Prairie du Chien

Dodgeville's boys basketball team has had a habit lately that coach Matt McGraw would like to see them break."
"We seem to alway find a way to make the game close at the end," he said after the Dodgers picked up an away SWC win over Prairie du Chien 66-61 Friday. "We are working on cleaning that up."
He would also like to see the Dodgers start off a game with a little more urgency. "We had a bit of a slow start but after that we controlled the game fairly well," said McGraw.
The Dodgers finished with Dillon Garthwaite leading them in scoring with 18 with Matthew Pittz adding 16 and Dyan Wasley coming off the bench for an additional nine.
"Dylan Wasley hit back to back 3's in the first half to really get us going," said McGraw. "That was a huge momentum swing."
It was deja vue the second half with another Dodger stepping up.
"Charlie Keith did the same in the second half to give us a decent cushion," McGraw said. Keith finished with eight, all in the final 18 minutes.
"We have a lot of guys contributing which continues to be a key to our success," McGraw continued. "Dillon and Matthew continue to be solid scorers with a big group of players that score, rebound, find open players, etc. We have a good team thing going. It'll be really important to rely on each other in a tough stretch of games. Our last three non-conference games are Belleville, Darlington and Sauk Prairie, who are all very good."
Then there is the second half of the SWC season with teams waiting to challenge the first place Dodgers.
"Also as our second half of the conference season starts we will have to be ready to go each and every night," McGraw said. "Winning a conference game in our league is never easy."
