Dodgers use balanced scoring to route RV girls

It wasn't the smoothest performance with the difference only one point at halftime but then the Dodger girls got going in their SWC match-up with River Valley Thursday.
The Dodgers moved from a 25-24 lead over River Valley after the first 18 minutes to a 52-38 win, using a 27-14 run the second half. Leading the scoring the second half were Marley Busch who put in 12 and McKenna Reilly who contributed nine. Busch led the Dodgers with 15 with Reilly finishing with 12.
Also getting double figures for the Dodgers was Lily Wiegel who had 14 and kept the Dodger moving the first half with four three pointers and 12 points.
The Dodgers allowed only four Blackhawks to score. Charlotte Ferstl, a 6-3 force in the middle, put in 16 points and controlled the boards. Megan Nachreiner had her successful looks from the perimeter with four threes and 14 points.
Alexis Deviney's six points and Karina Osborn's two closed out River Valley's scoring.
It was still a tight game with 10:14 to play and the Dodgers ahead 32-31. But the degree of separation started to take place.
Busch started it with a basket from underneath then added two free throws. Reilly followed with a pull up jumper to put the score at 38-31.
A pair of three pointers by Busch keyed another run and Reilly's driving layup sent the score to 47-36 with 2:22 to play.
Ferstl got loose underneath to cut the score to nine with 1:56 left but a driving layup by Maggie White and a three from Reilly gave the Dodges their final margin.
River Valley coach Darell Parrish said it was a game of runs with Dodgeville having more of them.
"Dodgeville got out to a 12 point lead late in the first half but we battled back to within one by halftime," Parrish said.
"Dodgeville began to pull away in the second half then we cut it to seven with seven minutes to go," he added.
But that was as close as the Blackhawks could get as the Dodgers pulled away for 52-38 win.
