Panthers beat Darlington on mercy rule


Iowa-Grant opened the SWAL softball season where they left off two seasons ago with a strong mound performance from pitcher Mya McCarthy and a 10-0 win over Darlington.
McCarthy went four innings in the five inning game. She threw four innings and struck out seven.
McCarthy had 12 first pitch strikes.
Freshman Lillian Pettit then came in and struck out the side. She and McCarthy led the eight hit attack with two hits each. Pettit had two rbis with Makayla Pilling and Indigo Kemnitzer getting one each.
The Panthers put up seven runs in the second and put the game away with three in the fourth.
Alexis Vavricka had a triple for the Panthers and Petit had a double.
