Bob, Terry and I had Dewey join us again for breakfast Saturday. We went north to 400 Springs, at the House on the Rock Golf Course. We always get good food and more than enough to eat. Rita, from Mazomanie, is usually our waitress. She does a really good job looking after us "old guys"! She was with Drew (chef/owner) when he was at the Old Feed Mill in Mazomanie. Dawn, who helps run the place, stopped to chat with us before we were ready to leave. I've said before that I first met her as the Spring Green Chamber of Commerce Director quite a few years ago.

Today (Thursday, April 29) is National Tell a Story Day. It's a good thing, however, that brother Pat tells the best story - read our "After 50" page in this week's issue. I'm sure you will agree!

Here's something I found to be the thought of the day (today): To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.

With the year off from serving hot food and popcorn at the concession stand at Centennial Park for baseball games, there is still a lot of work to get ready for this season(s). The first home baseball game(s) will be Saturday, May 1 starting at 8:30 a.m. in a round robin between Dodgeville, East Dubuque and Madison Edgewood. There's prom involved for one of the teams, so that's the reason for the "early" start! There will be varsity games at Centennial Park and JV games at the high school field at the middle school. Both baseball and softball games began playing games on Tuesday, April 27, as did the track & field. Girls soccer doesn't start until May 4. There will be a lot of games/meets played in just a short time to get the regular season in. The state tournaments aren't scheduled to be played until mid to the end of June!

Speaking of June, don't forget to plan for the Drive-thru Iowa County Dairy Breakfast at the fairgrounds in Mineral Point on Saturday, June 5. Another event to plan for will be the first of two summer Dodgeville Lions Club Antique and Flea Market Shows held at Harris Park in Dodgeville on Sunday, June 13. Both events, as do all planned for this summer, need a lot of support to try and make up for not having them last year!
