Thank you plowmen

Dear Editor;
Driving a car is the most dangerous thing that we do. Yet, we do it every day. We do it so often that we take for granted the ability to get into a comfortable climate controlled vehicle and quickly arrive at a desired distant location.
However, it is very dangerous! (Does a fish know that he is wet?) It becomes exceedingly more dangerous when the roads become snowy and slick!!!
I have traveled around both in and out of state. Winter driving is treacherous! However, when arriving back in Iowa County, the road conditions rapidly improve! It's a fact!
There is a lot of talk about Heroes. In times of trouble we all look for heroes. In Iowa County...the people plowing our roads are heroes.
I would like to thank the people who risk their lives; during our frequent winter storms, to ensure the roads are safe for the rest of us.
When we are warned to "stay home" during a snow storm; that is when these heroes go to work.
They get into those massive vehicles with levers and dials and instruments to monitor; and head straight into danger!
Now, I know enough to understand that the more heavy the vehicle, the more difficult it is to maneuver - especially on slippery roads. I cannot imagine doing this in the middle of a snow storm, when visibility is limited or nonexistent! All under the constant thread of causing damage to peoples property. And, often at night!
So... when we are driving on dry pavement in February, and the snow is cleared from ditchline to ditchline, in a hurry as always; I hope we can take a moment to "county our blessings"! NOT everyone has roads this nice! This is not easily achieved!
Thank you plowmen!!!
Respectfully yours,
