It was a beautiful day on Saturday as temperatures hoisted into the mid 40s. That was just a start of the warming that reached 60 degrees later on this week! Saturday, however, I was going into the Chronicle back door in the early afternoon and a father was playing frisbee in the parking lot - not with his dog, but with his young child!! He threw it from the North Main Street side of the courthouse to the courthouse annex and then said "go get it!" I told him that wasn't a very fair game of "go fetch" and we both laughed. Both he and the youngster went after it as two more youngsters in a baby carriage were close behind with (I'm guessing) their grandfather doing the driving. It was a great day, with sunshine, to be outdoors doing "spring" things!

I had a commitment to go to in Avoca by 10:00 a.m. Saturday and with Bob getting his second COVID shot at 8:10 that morning and Dewey coming out from Mount Horeb to join us for breakfast. We met at Cafe by Country Kitchen at 8:30. It was good to catch up with Dewey after about a month or so. I had to leave just after I finished eating, but Bob and Terry were still there to keep Dewey company.

There's just a few left as it's getting down to the final days (March 19 drawing) of the Dodgeville Area Chamber of Commerce selling their raffle tickets (225 total) for a Grand Prize of $10,000, with other prizes too, including more cash. This is in lieu of not being able to hold fundraising events in 2020. It's called "Raffle for a Cause" - investing in 2021 Chamber Events!

By the way, the front door of the Chronicle has been open since early December. I've had several people ask! We do require facial coverings to enter however, but we are happy to see old and new friends even if we can't always tell who you are!

Speaking of the Chamber of Commerce, plans have begun for DodgeFest, scheduled for August 28, and the "Pop Up Town Square" in July plus the Slowpitch Softball Tournament for early August. We are all hoping all of the summer events can be held this year - 2021 has to be better!

With the snow going fast, most people who enjoy the winter months say they hope the snow goes fast and it dries up quickly. As much as they enjoy winter, it's the mud and slush they don't particularly care for!

Today (Thursday) is National Johnny Appleseed Day - a day we remember the legendary man who brought shade to the U.S. through the planting of fruit trees, mainly apple trees!
